Shelby Duncan’s images capture a sense of youthful vitality and emotional honesty. Her work reveals the raw beauty of human connection: spontaneous, tender, and alive with color and texture.

Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, Shelby developed an early fascination with people and places, which naturally evolved into a practice rooted in portraiture, lifestyle, and travel. Now based between Paris and Los Angeles, she works primarily with analog photography, using natural light or on-camera flash to preserve the truth and immediacy of each interaction. Her photographs invite the viewer to feel at the heart of the moment offering a vibrant, unguarded, and profoundly human approach.

Driven by an intentional desire to tell the visceral stories of passionate people, Shelby’s practice reflects her belief in living with openness, curiosity, and a wild heart.

A feminist and activist, Shelby shot the HandsAway campaign to raise awareness around sexism and sexual assault against women. She is also part of the Gurls Talk mentoring program, a global community dedicated to supporting young women’s mental health and empowerment.
